The Co-curricular Clubs of the Welding and Culinary Arts departments of Linn-Benton Community College, came together to host their first “Weld and Dine” event.
After years of saving funds from events such as the Santiam Dinners, the Culinary Co-Curricular finally had enough to make their mobile food dreams come true. Their new food truck was delivered on Wednesday, October 5, with a crowd befitting the occasion.
The Culinary Arts department holds several cooking competitions throughout the year and on Friday April 16, I was fortunate enough to get to judge the department’s annual Hazelnut Cooking Competition.
Every February, competitors from every corner of Oregon and every walk of life come to meet in the ring and battle for the title Oregon Golden Gloves Champion. For some, the road to this moment is long and paved with sacrifice. But they still come, with smiles on their faces and dreams in their hearts, hoping that at the end of the night they will don the blue and gold jacket that will brand them a champion forever.
